BGVP DM6
| 5x Balanced Armatures | Knowles Balanced Armature |
? BGVP DM6, a penta balanced armature earphone with reasonable price.
The BGVP DM6 features a pure balanced armature driver configuration with 5 drivers per side.
Some of the balanced armatures inside the BGVP DM6 include premium Knowles models, specifically a Knowles 22955 and a Knowles 30017.
The cable of the BGVP DM6 is a 6N 8-core 400 wire silver-plated with MMCX connectors which has a super rugged construction with industrial finish and details such as a L-shaped 3.5mm plug with metal construction that can withstand intense abuse from users. Moreover, the MMCX connector ends have the same robust metal construction as the 3.5mm plug plus a pleasing textured finish.
The cable model bundled with the CT01 color model (clear) has a bi-colored design with a silver and dark grey pattern. During our TINHiFi T3 review we found that the stock cable was among the best bundled cables with a budget IEM, the BGVP DM6 cable even surpasses the T3 with the phenomenal quality of the stock cable included.
Moreover, the BGVP DM6 has a IPX3 waterproof rating to withstand some rough usage.
Despite the very similar name, the BGVP DM6 vs BGVP DMG are nothing alike – we already talked about this in our BGVP DMG review, but it is fair to highlight it again. The BGVP DMG vs BGVP DM6 configuration shows an hybrid 6-driver setup for the DMG and a 5-driver pure-balanced armature for the DM6. Certainly the “6” character and the upper case “G” have a morphology that can look alike and can confuse some users as to think that both are the same model.
The construction quality of both models has a different approach, the BGVP DMG has heavy duty metal built earpieces while the BGVP DM6 is made of resin. This grants a more robust build to the DMG and a super light weighted one to the DM6.

B
Bass & Sub Bass
The BGVP DM6 bass is excellently tuned with punchy but not bloated mid-bass and deep but not drowning sub-bass.
This makes the DM6 a very competent model to cover any genre thrown at it with no shortage of bass and, at the same time, keeping their lower end in the precise range that it should stay.
Additionally, the lower frequencies of the BGVP DM6 are energetic and will add body and fun to any track (whenever the song requests it) – listeners can feel safe that this model will never sound thin nor anemic.
The BGVP DM6 has a very balanced and well-tuned bass but, if wanted, they can be pushed into a very bassy, punchy and deep response with a custom EQ.
Through our basshead tests, the BGVP DM6 handled up to 40% of the maximum power of a FiiO E12 (newer model named FiiO A5
) with exponential increase of both mid-bass and sub-bass but with no significant rumble nor impact as to classify in our Top Basshead Charts.

M
Mids & Vocals
The BGVP DM6 midrange has a clean profile with little bleed that does not congest nor interfere with their lower mids.
Male vocals sound vivid and clear with no distant nor laid back personality. Lower mids do not sound thin nor lack body and are able to provide pleasant warmth.
Higher mids are crisp but not disturbing while female vocals are crystal clear and emphasized, yet not overly harsh.
Honestly, the mids of the DM6 do not require much help from an EQ. Fine-tuning can be applied with good response reducing some of the harhsy peaks without loosing their excellent baseline sound.
The main EQ advice would be to be cautious while EQ’ing the midrange of the DM6 to avoid introducing boxy vocals and, also, keeping away from empowering the upper mids.

H
Highs & Treble
The BGVP DM6 are able to resolve plenty detail while their overall highs tuning provide a fairly bright and open sound experience.
These earphones, certainly, do not suffer from any muddy nor dark sound issues.
In addition to this, piercing peaks are not commonly perceived. Whenever these fatiguing spikes show up they fall into a range that we consider tolerable and non-disturbing.
On the other hand, sibilance might be present on some specific sibilant-prone tracks and could get a bit hot.
An EQ can reveal an huge amount of detail and, remarkably, open up it’s highs without introducing additional fatiguing peaks.
It is important to highlight that the BGVP DM6 is an earphone that can provide an extremely high volume output, which can also tempt listeners to crank up the volume. As a normal volume-related fact, by dialing up the volume the risks of harshness and fatiguing peaks become exponentially higher.

SL
Sound Leak
The sound leaking out of the BGVP DM6 is nearly inline with most average earphones.
This means that they will be hearable by nearby people, while listening to music at high volume settings and in relatively quiet places but will not present problems during everyday usage.
