The BQEYZ K2 features quad drivers composed of 2 balanced armatures, a 10 mm dynamic driver and a 6 mm DD, this is a driver distribution and sizes that we have recently seen in our review of the TRN V80.

The BQEYZ K2 has detachable bi-pin cables (specifically 0.78mm bi-pin), this connector type is the same of the TFZ Series 2 and many other The Fragrant Zither headphones but with a straight connector instead of an angled one. The cable is braided, with a helix design (like KZ headphones, TRN headphones and TFZ headphones).

Every detail of the BQEYZ K2 is made of metal from their housings up to the cable bifurcation, remote/mic and 3.5mm L plug section.

The BQEYZ K2 unboxing results in 3 pair of eartips, a detachable bi-pin cable and a cable organizer. The packaging is a small square box but rugged enough to correctly protect the unit.

Bass & Sub Bass

The BQEYZ K2 bass is sufficiently balanced, not extremely boosted but neither will offer the deepest sub-bass around. Their lower frequencies style offers fun and energy for most music genres without sounding anemic nor thin but do not expect a super bassy nor basshead tuning, at all.

Applying an EQ, adds a very noticeable amount of sub-bass and also a punchier mid-bass response.

During our extreme basshead tests, the BQEYZ K2 handled up to 30% of a Fiio E12 amp‘s max power (high gain + bass boost) revealing a huge sub-bass depth and mid-bass punch but did not reach any basshead rumble nor impact, remaining below the RevoNext QT3, TRN V80, Auglamour RT-1, Sony MDR-EX650, Sony MDR-EX800st, KZ ED16 and KZ ZSR.

It is important to note that the BQEYZ K2 are very sensitive to show an extreme reduction of mid-bass and sub-bass if not fit as deep as possible in the ears.

Mids & Vocals

The BQEYZ K2 mids are warm with full-bodied male vocals and a bit of a laid back tuning, yet do not sound distant. Mid-bass bleed is somewhat present with a slight congestion on lower mids but nothing terrible.

Higher mids are sufficiently crisp and clear but not forward nor harsh.

With an EQ, male vocals gain a clear and strong placement with much more alive sound. Higher mids get crispier but can risk to become a bit harsh if overdone.

Highs & Treble

The BQEYZ K2 highs offer sufficient brightness and some detail. Their style is not highs-centered nor aims to an ultra-bright sound.

Overall their highs are smooth, with a darkish tint and no sibilance. Treble sensitive people that still do not want a dark sounding headphone will be glad with the highs of the BQEYZ K2.

An EQ makes their highs radically more detailed and open sounding, yet they are able to conserve their smooth and non-fatiguing sound style.

Sound Leak

The sound leaking out of the BQEYZ K2 is fairly low and noticeably lower than many average headphones.

To be honest, reseller’s photos do not make justice to the BQEYZ K2, they are much more aesthetically pleasing than they seem on photos, with a clean and elegant look.

The excellent response to EQ of the BQEYZ K2 allows them to become a much more detailed and bright sounding headphone with also crispier higher mids and cleaner lower mids yet retaining their overall smooth sound.
