EarFun Free Review
Tests & Scores
A
Accessories & Packaging
The EarFun Free comes with 3 pair of eartips, a charging cable and the battery pack – quite a standard for most TWS earphones on the market.
The unit comes inside a clean looking packaging with a white and yellow box.

B
Bass & Sub Bass
Bass on the EarFun Free can reach and handle deep sub-bass without sounding over-boosted nor drowning their sound signature.
Their mid-bass is well-controlled with a fun and punchy sound that can make them capable of covering most music genres, sounding energetic but at the same time not becoming boomy.
In general, the brand did a very good job tuning the lower end on the EarFun Free – yet, it is important to highlight that this kind of bass tuning will not be the best choice for electronic or EDM listeners.
An EQ can be applied to boost their bass personality adding a much more intense punch and allowing their sub-bass to get even deeper.

M
Mids & Vocals
The midrange on the EarFun exhibits a warm and full sounding tuning with a more emphasized upper mid end than on their lower midrange.
Nonetheless, their midrange does not suffer from excessive mid-bass bleed – in fact, we would say that their male vocals and lower midrange are substantially clean for a warm sounding earphone.
The result of their midrange tuning is cozy, yet being able to offer crisp upper mids and female vocals.
With an EQ, their midrange can be pushed for a cleaner lower midrange, keeping their warmth and not introducing too much harshness.
7.5/10

H
Highs & Treble
Highs on the EarFun Free are fairly detailed for most listening sessions and can provide a pleasing balance of brightness-smoothness, which results in a gentle sound but that does not becomes neither excessively bright nor overly rolled-off.
Piercing and sibilant peaks are rarely perceived, with sporadic sibilance within a range of mild intensity.
All in all, the EarFun Free sound extremely similar to the Xiaomi Redmi Airdots. In fact, our measurements revealed that both have almost identical frequency response curves.
7.75/10

SL
Sound Leak
The sound leaking out of the EarFun is remarkably low and nearly inaudible when listening to music at nearly any volume setting.
This makes it a wise match for users who need to use them in libraries or who are concerned about the privacy of their music listening sessions.

SI
Sound Isolation
Differently to it’s leaking performance, their isolation is not as strong as on some of the most efficient isolating earphones that we have tested so far.
This will make them hard to provide absolute isolation but will enable them to grant partial awareness of the environment – feature that is usually desired by people practicing sports outdoor.

C
Comfort
The larger and more protruding footprint of their earpieces might be less comfortable for smaller than average ears. Despite this, most of our editors found zero discomfort issues nor felt them uncomfortable at all.
Their larger size will enable an easier surface area to be grabbed and handled, once placed in the ears. In addition to this, the form factor of the units are curvy with rounded edges, avoiding sharp ends that could cause pain.
