| Magnetic Switches | Hot-Swappable | 75% | Gasket-mounted | South-facing |

Epomaker HE75 Mag, the newest keyboard from Epomaker with magnetic switches.

In the recent times, Epomaker has shown and released a wider variety of keyboards with more modern qualities like split models, Alice layouts and now also hall-effect keyboards.

The Epomaker HE75 Mag joins the catalog of 75% keyboards from the brand (like the Epomaker Tide75, Epomaker TH80 Pro V2) as one of the few keyboards from them using magnetic switches.

The full complete name of this model is Epomaker HE75 Tri-Mode Magnetic Keyboard but should not be confused with the Epomaker HE75 Tri despite their nearly identical model naming, as they are different models with strongly different features and specs.

ACCESSORIES & PACKAGING
gramophone-256604.5/5

We would consider the Epomaker HE75 Mag a superior model than others recently reviewed but for some reason this one has the standard basic packaging seen on older keyboards from the brand and not as rugged and nicer like the one of the Epomaker Split 65, Epomaker Hack 59, Epomaker Alice 66 and Epomaker P87.

With the keyboard you will also get:

• Keyboard dust cover
• 2x extra switches
• 2x additional keycaps
• Braided cable
• Keycap puller / Switch puller

D

DESIGN
gramophone-256604.75/5

The Epomaker HE75 Mag is a mid-compact keyboard with a 75% ANSI US layout, being smaller than a typical TKL keyboard (like the Skyloong GK87 Pro, Akko Sailor Moon Crystal 5087B v2, Epomaker Shadow-S, Epomaker Brick 87) but offering the versatility of a TKL layout with a full F number row, arrow keys and navigation keys.

Many times, keyboards centered around a mainly-dark theme can risk to fall into a dull or unexciting final aesthetic (like we felt when reviewing the Keydous NJ98-CP, Akko SPR75, MonsGeek M6)

Instead, the Epomaker HE75 Mag has a beautiful and elegant aesthetic result with a premium feel to it.

We could say that the difference is made by the very nice keycaps set and small details like a silver-colored knob and its decorative LED shape next to it – dedicated status lights for Caps Lock, Scroll Lock and Battery charge are visible vertically aligned on the right section of the top case.

The Epomaker HE75 Mag is available in only one color option, and this is a limit in variety that we usually “penalize” but the HE75 Mag looks perfect as it is and we feel no need for additional colors, theme nor keycap sets from factory.

Different than other 75% keyboards (Feker IK85 Plus, Akko MU02, CIDOO V75 PRO, Akko MOD007 series, Leobog Hi75, Leobog K81, Keydous NJ80, Fantech MaxFit81), the HE75 Mag includes 81 keys and a knob and can be “boosted” to a 2nd configuration with 83 keys and no knob thanks to its detachable knob module.

On top of that, the Epomaker HE75 Mag incorporates some functional design resources like a dedicated cable routing section with a 3-way exit – this is a neat feature to have a better desktop environment when wired.

CONSTRUCTION & BUILD
gramophone-256604.75/5

The Epomaker HE75 Mag if constructed with an ABS plastic case that feels inline with other plastic keyboards from the brand, yet the keyboard has a noticeably heavier feel to it that can give a sensation of stronger ruggedness.

This model from Epomaker might not be a metal keyboard like the Epomaker x Feker Galaxy 80, CIDOO V65 or Epomaker P87 but does incorporate a bottom metal plate and an internal aluminum alloy plate.

In addition to this, the board has hot-swappable sockets to replace the magnetic switches with others that fall within the compatibility reported by the manufacturer – do note that unlike the Akko MOD007B HE PC Tokyo and Akko 7th Anniversary MOD 007 PC, this keyboard is not inter-compatible with mechanical switches as well.

Furthermore, the HE75 Mag is equipped with plate-mount stabilizers, a gasket-mount design, FR4 PCB, PPRO sandwich foam and silicone bottom pad.

KC

KEYCAPS
gramophone-256605/5

The Epomaker HE75 Mag comes with Cherry profile keycaps made of quality double-shot PBT.

The theme of the keycaps set has a black to purple gradient that starts with a black top row and fades to purple on each following bottom row; these are not shine-through but have a nice contrast design with white fonts over dark keycaps color, making easy to read in most environments.

Regarding feel and build, the keycaps have a slightly sandy grit that is way gentler than other textured caps and add a nice sensation to the touch without becoming fatiguing.

Also, the knob of the Epomaker HE75 Mag is one of the best we have seen with a smoothness and weight balance that is difficult to find (we only saw similar knob personality with the KiiBoom Phantom 81 V2, Epomaker TH80-X and to some extent with the Akko MU02).

In fact, the knob can be easily controlled with a single finger and, even, sliding it from the side of the keyboard while preserving a notched per step tactile feedback and silent sound.

SWITCHES

gramophone-256605/5

For sure, the most important feature of the Epomaker HE75 Mag is the fact that ditches the use of mechanical switches and adopts the more advanced and capable tech of magnetic switches.

In fact, the HE75 Mag is, exclusively, a keyboard with magnetic switches without any option to be chosen with mechanical switches (besides the side-variant, the Epomaker HE75 Tri)

The specific model of magnetic switches pre-assembled in the Epomaker HE75 Mag are the Gateron Magnetic White Switch, which presented and smooth and balanced performance that did not felt overly feather light as to register inputs by simply resting the fingers over the keycaps but neither as slow, clumsy and fatiguing as a heavy linear, tactile or clicky switch.

Of course, as expected by the nature of the magnetic, non-mechanical design, the Gateron Magnetic White do not have any scratchiness at all and are silky smooth.

You might or might not be new to magnetic/hall-effect switches but as a brief summary (you can read more about them in our other hall-effect keyboards reviewed); these type of modern switches will give you the option to adjust the actuation activation, release from 0.1mm to 4mm; basically you could totally transform these switches into any type of linear switch from insanely gaming fast to a “slower” and more typing tolerant one or anything else that you might want to replicate.

In addition to this, magnetic switches enable crazy gaming features such as:

• Dynamic KeyStroke
• Rapid Trigger
• MT
• TGL
• Snap
• Multi-action according to the travel position and direction of travel

A neat detail, is that the keyboard includes 4 separate trigger actuation presets that can be switched on-the-fly by shortcuts (Fn+1 to 4) covering a comfort, sensitive, gaming and custom mode.

We are glad seeing Epomaker joining and expanding their keyboards with magnetic switches as other competitors like AKKO, Keydous and Ajazz also started to incorporate hall-effect technology in their keyboards since last year (like the Akko MOD007B HE PC and Akko MOD 007 PC 7th Anniversary, Ajazz AK680 MAX, Ajazz AK820 MAX HE, Keydous NJ98-CP)

CONNECTIVITY
gramophone-256604.75/5

The Mag75 HE offer a triple-mode connectivity with detachable USB-C wired, Bluetooth wireless and 2.4G wireless – dongle included in a magnetic attaching, storage slot in the bottom metal plate of the shell.

To select the connection mode, you can access a switch placed on the bottom of the case (also a WIN, MAC switch is found there)

P&E

PERFORMANCE & USE

TYPING
5/5

There is something about the feel of magnetic switches that cannot be ever obtained with mechanical switches that makes the Epomaker HE75 Mag a marvelous keyboard to type with and use a daily driver.

Most of this is the combination of aspects like the smoothness, responsiveness, on top of the limitless customization of the switches personality.

Transforming the switches and keyboard into a ultra-fast or fail safe error-free typer by adjusting the actuation, activation and release of the switches offers infinite possibilities.

GAMING
5/5

There are surely gaming keyboards with linear speed switches out there but, still those cannot compete with the Epomaker HE75 Mag and the nature of the magnetic switches inside of it.

This keyboard ensures gaming superiority and premium features that no mechanical keyboard can reach, like:

• Adjustable switches
• Ultra-fast trigger
• DKS
• RT
• MT
• 1ms latency

Moreover, the keyboard also covers the basics of specs needed for gaming like 1000Hz polling rate, 75% layout, N-Key Rollover, knob, hot-swappable, etc.

PRODUCTIVITY
5/5

TKL, 75% and smaller keyboards do not tend to score this high in the productivity and office work category but the difference with this model is the capabilities and customizations that are provided by the programmability of the magnetic switches, mostly by the possibility of setting multiple actions per keypress thanks to DKS.

TABLET/MOBILE
5/5

The Epomaker HE75 Mag, ticks more than enough boxes in the checklist for a high-class keyboard for mobile setups, such as:

• Bluetooth
• Programmable
• On-board memory
• Light-robust balance
• Sufficient battery capacity
• Knob
•  Navigation and F row number keys

L

LIGHTING

gramophone-256604.5/5

The board of the Epomaker HE75 Mag has south-facing RGB LED lights, which are better designed to enhance the backlit effect.

The lights in the HE75 Mag add a nice popping effect and illuminate the plate in more even diffusion than what you would expect from a south-facing keyboard.

S

SOUND

gramophone-256604.5/5

A common aspect of many magnetic switches is the lack of thock, clack or other typical sound qualities of premium mechanical switches.

The Epomaker HE75 Mag with Gateron Magnetic White switches, in fact, did not show thock, clack nor marbly sound characteristics and could be rated as a muted poppy sounding keyboard.

Moreover, if you do not smash the keys on each press, the keyboard will respond with an almost completely silent sound – when smashed you might notice a bit of a clacky bounce back noise.

Typically, as seen on other Epomaker keyboards, stabs and switches come perfectly pre-lubed and show no signs of rattling or pinging.

Also, as expected by the quality and quantity of inner layers and components, the Epomaker HE75 Mag does not suffer from resonance, echo nor hollow sound.

SW

SOFTWARE

gramophone-256604.5/5

Over time, Epomaker software has evolved into a more robust and stable configuration tool covering all needed reprogramming and customization options for each model.

Software is more essential than ever with keyboards like the Epomaker HE75 Mag that have hall-effect switches as all the actuation adjustability options are mainly accessed through software.

From out tests, the software felt sufficiently intuitive or with an acceptable learning curve for new users entering the world of magnetic switches.

At the same time we did not see ourselves limited by the software to set and customize the keyboard deeply and in detail.

A note on the software, as the current status of the keyboard is pre-order only, the software is not explicitly listed in the software download section of Epomaker but you can get to it by following the URL indicated in the user manual or the product listing.

B

BATTERY
gramophone-256604/5

The HE75 Mag sports a 4000mAh battery inside, which is more or less a standard capacity seen on most 75% keyboard out there.
