Epomaker HE75 Tri
| Mechanical Keyboard | 75% | Hot-Swappable |
Epomaker HE75 Tri, part of the brand new releases under the 75% layout category.
The Epomaker HE75 Tri is part of a series called HE75 that can generate some confusion among consumers as there are 2 current models that have nearly identical name but are completely different keyboards.
Said so, you should not mix and mistake the Epomaker HE75 Tri with the Epomaker HE75 Mag (notice the difference in the last 3 letters); the model that we are reviewing here is the Epomaker HE75 Tri and is the model that uses mechanical switches instead of the hall-effect switches on the Mag variant.

ACCESSORIES & PACKAGING

4.25/5
The Epomaker HE75 Tri has an average cardboard packaging, inline with almost all other keyboards from the brand.
With the keyboard you will receive:
• Dust cover
• 2x extra keycaps
• 2x extra switches
• 1x switch puller/keycap puller
• USB-C cable

D
DESIGN

5/5
The first and most important detail that we need to highlight again is that despite being called HE75, this keyboard does not have magnetic switches; this might lead to confusion as the “HE” letters are typically used by manufacturers to name models that include hall-effect (magnetic) switches; see for example the AKKO MOD007B HE PC – though this is not always the case as the Keydous NJ98-CP and AJAZZ AK680 MAX are hall-effect keyboards but neither uses “HE” in the model naming.
Back to the design of this keyboard; the Epomaker TH75 Tri has a 75% layout (ANSI US) with 81 keys and a knob; the knob can be swapped for 2 keys.
From a design standpoint, this TH75 Tri and the TH75 Mag are identical, sharing the exact same case, form factor, LED and all other details.
This means that you will find the same perforated backlit embellishing shape next to the knob, 3 dedicated status light for Caps, Scr and battery and an all-black shell with a clean but minimalistic approach.
If you flip the keyboard you will find a 3-way cable routing design on the bottom case, a 2-step adjustable kickstand and small metal plate in the center that holds the mode and connection switches and sports a storage slot for the wireless dongle.
The main visual difference between the Tri and Mag versions of the HE75 is the color of the keycaps, with the HE75 Tri using a gradient going from pink, salmon up to very dark violet.

CONSTRUCTION & BUILD

4.5/5
The Epomaker HE75 Tri has a hot-swappable board compatible with most 3-pin and 5-pin mechanical switches on the market; which allows users to replace the switches at will and without the need of soldering.
The case of the keyboard is made of ABS plastic but feels sturdier than budget-keyboards using also plastic as their main case construction material.
Inside, the keyboard has a specialized multi-dampening layer design with 1x Poron Sandwich Foam, 1x IXPE Switch Pad, 1x Sound Enhancement Pad, 1x Poron Switch Socket Pad, 1x Bottom Silicone Pad, FR4 PCB, flex-cut polycarbonate plate and plate-mount stabilizers – the unit is based on a gasket-mount design.

KEYCAPS

5/5
The keycaps of the Epomaker HE75 Tri are simply gorgeous with its side-lit, shine-through design. This means that the keycaps have a top surface that is completely “blank” with no printing nor engraved fonts and use, instead, a shine-through fonts placement on the south section of the keycap.
This design makes the overall keycaps and keyboard to look unique and wonder with an eye-candy effect once the RGB lights are turned one.
Moreover, the keycaps are of quality build making use of double-shot PBT and a material thickness seen on more premium keycaps sets.
The layout of the keycaps is the classic Cherry, which seems like a smart move from the brand to benefit better from the keycaps spacing for a nicer RGB backlit effect.
The knob is made of metal and has one of the best rotational movement of all knobs seen so far with the right amount of resistance and smoothness and a nice tactile/silent feedback per notch.
SW
SWITCHES

4/5
As mentioned, the Epomaker HE75 Tri is a keyboard with mechanical switches; from factory you are not able to choose among different switches as the HE75 Tri is only available pre-assembled with Epomaker Flaming switches.
These switches pre-assembled are of linear type, so if you are into clicky, speed linear or tactile switches you might want to buy a switches set and replace them.
Nonetheless, the switches offered are of excellent quality and versatility – in fact, we have tested and reviewed the Flamingo swithches dozens of times in the past with other Epomaker keyboards.
This specific switches have a scratchless travel and a bit heavier personality than most magnetic switches.

CONNECTIVITY

4.75/5
It is easy to identify that this keyboard is a triple-mode one as the model name itself denotes it (Tri).
This refers to 3 connectivity options:
• 2.4G wireless (with the included dongle)
• Bluetooth (with 3 independent pairing slots)
• Wired (detachable USB-C cable with routing cable design)
P&E
PERFORMANCE & USE
TYPING
5/5
Similar to the Epomaker HE75 Mag, the Epomaker TH75 Tri is ergonomically great to use and the typing experience is pleasantly carried over thanks to the quality keycaps, switches, stabs and overall build.
Yet, we might prefer this HE75 Tri over the HE75 Mag for daily typing, because of the “better” sound profile.
GAMING
4.5/5
Gaming-wise, the Epomaker HE75 Tri is well designed and features with specs and details such as:
• 75% layout
• 1000Hz polling rate
• Anti-ghosting NKRO
• 2.4G wireless and detachable wired
• 2ms latency
• Knob
• Hot-swappable
PRODUCTIVITY
4.5/5
75% keyboards have a smart design that offers versatility and usability without compromising too much the keys offered (like F number row, arrow keys, navigation keys and knob)
For productivity, the 75% layout might be more than enough, while office work (mostly if you use plenty of calc and spreadsheets) might benefit if combined with a dedicated numpad.
TABLET/MOBILE
4.25/5
Being, much smaller than a 1800 keyboard, yet not as limiting as a 60% keyboard and offering Bluetooth connection plus on-board memory for all customizations and reprogramming, this model can be a wise choice for a more “premium” keyboard for mobile system.
L
LIGHTING

5/5
The south-facing backlit board with RGB lights are the perfect combination with the neat side-lit keycaps of this Epomaker keyboard, resulting in a much more visually appealing lighting effect than most other keyboards on the market.
In addition to this, the LEDs are substantially brighter than other competitors and the switches plate is able to be evenly illuminated, combining into a superb final RGB effect and benefit much more from light presets.
S
SOUND

5/5
The sound profile of the Epomaker HE75 Tri could be defined as poppy-thocky with no issues with pinging, echo nor resonance; something that you can expect from a high quality mechanical keyboard.
The keyboard sounds delightfully premium right out of the box, with a thocky nature that might need tedious DIY modding on some competitors to get close to the sound offered by the HE75 Tri stock out of the box.
Moreover, the plate-mount stabilizers came lubed from factory as they should without lacking nor having too much of it.
B
BATTERY

4/5
Inside of the case, the Epomaker HE75 Tri is equipped with battery with a capacity of 4000mAh, which is more or less the average size that is found on many 75% and TKL wireless keyboards.
