ACCESSORIES & PACKAGING
4/5
The Epomaker TH85 comes in a standard cardboard packaging similar to most other Epomaker keyboards.
Inside you will also get:
• Dust cover
• 2x switches
• Switch/keycap puller
• USB cable
D
DESIGN
4.5/5
At first sight you could think that the Epomaker TH85 is a 75% keyboard but, instead, it has a less-typical 80% layout with 84 keys.
This different layout give the extra navigation keys a more spacious and organized arrangement than more compact and even than 75% keyboards.
The Epomaker TH85 is available in 3 different colors:
• Epomaker TH85 Black White Blue (model reviewed)
• Epomaker TH85 White Black
• Epomaker TH85 Black White
The specific variant of the TH85 that we are reviewing is the more colorful of the bunch with a combination of 3 colors for the keycaps set and sharing the same black case as the “Black White” version.
Overall, the device looks better than other dark colored competitors and does not risk to become a boring looking and “too dark” keyboard.
Over the right edge of the top case, you will find a metal plate accent with the brand’s name/logo and thin strip light right on the bottom of it.
On the bottom, the keyboard has 2 adjustable feet and dedicated storage slot for the wireless dongle.

CONSTRUCTION & BUILD
4.5/5
The case of the Epomaker TH85 is made of ABS but feels better built than cheap plastic keyboards.

Internally, the model comes with a hot-swappable board with no need of soldering to replace switches and premium components such as a gasket-mount design, polycarbonate plate, flex-cut and 5 layers of dampening (Poron Sandwich Foam, IXPE Pad, Sound Pad, Poron Socket Pad, Bottom Silicone)
Moreover, this keyboard is equipped with QMK firmware and is VIA compatible; therefore, users gain access to the power and freedom of VIA and no restrictions to proprietary software running in background tasks.

KEYCAPS
4.5/5
The keycaps included with the TH85 are made of long-lasting, fade-free PBT with double-shot manufacturing.
From the white keycaps to the black or blue ones, the brand applied excellent contrast and readability on the printed fonts, becoming easier to find the wanted key at any time.
The keys have finely textured finish that improved grip but does not become too gritty to the touch
SW
SWITCHES
4.25/5
In theory, the Epomaker TH85 is offered with either a tactile or a linear switch, specifically:
• Epomaker Creamy Jade linear
• Epomaker Milk Blue tactile
In spite of this, the brand’s website and listing for the TH85 gives only the option to buy it with the tactile switches if you choose the white colored version of the keyboard.
Our variant of the TH85, came with the Creamy Jade linears.
These linear switches have a heavier actuation force than many mainstream linear competitors, and this is not a bad thing; it is simply a different flavor and feel.
After years of reviewing hundreds of keyboards and switches we have found many times that the heavier linears are wonderful for typing with a lower error-rate and nice versatile coverage for many tasks and applications.

CONNECTIVITY
4.75/5
As a common feature of modern Epomaker keyboards, the Epomaker TH85 is a wired and wireless model that can be connected with up to 5 devices and using 3 different connectivity options:
• Detachable wired
• Bluetooth
• 2.4G wireless
On top of that, the keyboard can offer 1000Hz of polling rate in either wired and 2.4G modes and a min. latency of 2ms in USB mode – the keyboard supports N-key rollover.
To select the connection mode, you can access the dedicated switch placed on the back edge of the keyboard; next to the USB-C port and the Win/Mac switch.
L
LIGHTING
4.5/5
The first point to highlight about the lighting of the Epomaker TH85 is its special strip light with a grid that runs all across the back edge and part of the right and left edges.
This strip light looks very nice adding a popping effect and a bold personality.
In addition to this, the south-facing RGB LED on of the board presented a significantly brighter and more efficient backlighting effect than many other RGB keyboards that we have reviewed.
The main backlight, strip light and logo light can be controlled independently.
S
SOUND
5/5
The Epomaker TH85 with Creamy Shade switches presented a clean and pristine clacky sound profile with thock being present on some keys like Backspace, Enter and right Shift.
Pinging, echo and resonance are perfectly under control in the TH85 while the lubed plate-mounted stabs never showed rattling noises nor the need of applying any extra manual lube.
B
BATTERY
4/5
To power the unit during wireless use, the device is equipped with a 4000mAh rechargeable battery.
The battery capacity falls within the average standard that is found on most similarly sized keyboards.
