Fantech Maxfit6 Review

A
ACCESSORIES & PACKAGING
4.25/5
The Fantech MAXFIT6 comes in standard packaging similar to most modern keyboards.
With the keyboard you will get:
• Dust cover
• 2 extra switches
• 2 keycaps
• USB-C cable
• Keycap/switch puller
D
DESIGN
4.25/5
The Fantech Maxfit6 has a clean, non-flashy design with a nearly-complete black aesthetic.
To avoid falling into a dull looking design, the keyboard has 2 nice transparent, pink keycaps (nearly the same that we saw in a CIDOO keyboard that we reviewed some time ago), a space grey knob and a removable metal cover with a “MAXFIT” engraving.
On top of that, as soon as you turn on the south-facing RGB LED of the board, the MAXFIT6 becomes very nice aesthetically as the backlighting adds a popping effect. Also, these RGB LEDs proved to be brighter and more evenly diffused than on many other backlit keyboards.
Size and style-wise, the Fantech MAXFIT6 has a compact 65% layout with 66 keys and a knob and includes some extra keys that make it more versatile than a classic 60% keyboard; like arrows, Del and Home keys.
This design/size and a noticeable light weight (608 g) can make this one an excellent gaming keyboard to carry around.
The Maxfit6 is available in either black or white color.

CONSTRUCTION & BUILD
4.25/5
From the plastic case and MSRP you might think that this is a basic mechanical keyboard but the Fantech MAXFIT6 hides beneath the surface much more than what you would expect for this price.
Internally, the MAXFIT has a hot-swappable board, allowing users to replace the switches at will without any soldering needed.
On top of that, the unit has a gasket mount design and, despite not being listed by the manufacturer, for sure it holds inside many dampening layers; given the excellent sound and feel that the MAXFIT6 showed during the tests.
In fact, the MAXFIT6 is a true pleasure to use to type, with a bouncy and cushiony feel per key press that almost shows hints of what you can get with premium keyboards using spring systems.
KC
KEYCAPS
4.25/5
The keycaps of the MAXFIT6 are made of durable PBT material with double-shot processing.
The layout of the keycap set is the classic Cherry style with a design using white fonts over black caps shells.
The knob placed on the right top edge has a nice tactile but silent feedback per notch with the right amount of resistance.
Moreover, this knob has a dedicated ring light around all its base, which looks very nice and can be controlled separately from the board’s RGB backlights.
The finish of the keycaps has a very subtle amount of grit but that by touch feels smooth – the 2 accent transparent keycaps are fully textureless.
SW
SWITCHES
4.25/5
The Fantech Maxfit6 is offered with 2 switches types, a linear and a tactile.
Specifically, these switches are self-branded and are listed named as:
• Maxfit White soft linear
• Maxfit Brown tactile quiet
The specific model that we are reviewing has Maxfit White linear switches, which showed a nearly unperceivable scratching feel and have a decisively heavier personality than many mainstream popular linear switches.
CON
CONNECTIVITY
4.75/5
The Maxfit6 is a triple-mode keyboard, which means it can be used through 3 different connectivity options:
• Bluetooth with 3 slots
• 2.4G wireless with the included dongle (StrikeSpeed)
• Detachable USB-C wired
The 2.4G dongle is hidden under the metal “MAXFIT” plate that we mentioned in the Design section. This plate sits in place with a magnetic attaching system.

The rear edge of the case holds the USB-C port and the switches for Win/Mac modes and the connectivity selector.
S
SOUND
4.5/5
The Fantech Maxfit6 with Maxfit White linear switches, has a poppy-clacky sound personality with a clean quality inline with many well-performing mechanical keyboards.
A characteristic that you will notice with this keyboard is that the Shift, Enter, Backspace and Space bar keys all have a very defined, different sound profile (quite commonly on most keyboards)
Fortunately, the brand has done an excellent job pre-lubing the stabilizers, which presented completely rattle-free noise and no mushy feel.
SW
SOFTWARE
4.5/5
We welcomed the decision from the brand to make the Fantech MAXFIT6 a QMK/VIA keyboard, gaining the programmability power of VIA and no need of background/booting software program and apply customizations – even the knob can be reprogrammed.
B
BATTERY
3.75/5
In comparison with keyboards with similar layout that we have reviewed, the MAXFIT falls below average in battery capacity, having a 3000mAh LiPo battery.
Nonetheless, the brand promises up to 200 hours of runtime per charge.
