? JBL Synchros Reflect-I / Reflect-A, a headphone with special features for sports.
The JBL Synchros Reflect can be found under 2 names:
- JBL Synchros Reflect-I – iOS device’s compatible version
- JBL Synchros Reflect-A – Android compatibility
JBL has clearly designed the JBL Synchros Reflect as an earphone to cover the demands of people who practice sports, either indoors and outdoors.
Some of the special characteristics that the brand incorporated on this model include a sweat proof design and a special reflective cable that allows runners or cyclers to be seen at night during their training sessions.
Inline, the cable holds a 3-button remote/mic with dedicated volume buttons and a rubberized finish. In addition to this, the cable bifurcation is equipped with a metal clip while the cable itself is divided in 2 pieces that can connect to extend the length of it or reduce it’s size/length when carrying it around.
The JBL Synchros Reflect-I / Reflect-A belong to 2 series of JBL headphones the Reflect and the Synchros, some models of these series include the:
- JBL Synchros Reflect Aware
- JBL Reflect Mini 2
- JBL Reflect Mini BT
- JBL Reflect Response
- JBL Reflect Contour 2
- JBL Reflect Fit
The JBL Synchros Reflect-I / Reflect-A has, yet another, notable design characteristic; beneath the eartips that suggest a in-ear fit style there is actually an earbud styled end/nozzle.
User can buy the JBL Synchros Reflect-I / Reflect-A in 4 color options: red, green, blue or black.

Accessories & Packaging
The JBL Synchros Reflect-I / Reflect-A unboxing results in an extension cable and 4 pair of eartips with earwings incorporated.
The packaging of the JBL Synchros is a gorgeous medium sized box, with a book-like side opening system and a well-curated overall design and presentation.

B
Bass & Sub Bass
The JBL Synchros Reflect-I / Reflect-A bass is punchy and will be able to get substantially deep for most genres.
You shouldn’t expect a basshead sub-ass depth style but a sufficiently deep one to cover any track’s bass demands (except EDM and similar).

Overall, their bass is fun and will provide energy, warm and body to any song without having to necessarily apply an EQ.
With an EQ, their bass can be pushed for a much deeper and punchier response to cover more demanding songs.
Through out our basshead tests, the JBL Synchros Reflect managed to take up to 30% of a FiiO A5 maximum power with important addition of depth and punch, yet no basshead rumble was achieved.

M
Mids & Vocals
The JBL Synchros Reflect-I / Reflect-A can show some mid-bass bleed that can be perceived on some songs but it is not excruciatingly strong – still, expect some congestion to be added over their lower midrange and transitioning frequencies.
Nonetheless, their male vocals are able to sound alive, non-distant nor laid-back. Higher mids are crisp and clear and might show some mild harshy peaks at rare times but can be ranked within tolerable levels.
Using an EQ can help vocals to be cleared up but avoid boosting their higher mids or you will introduce harshness.
7.5/10

H
Highs & Treble
The JBL Synchros Reflect-I / Reflect-A are sufficiently bright and are also able to resolve some detail – we would say that they offer more detail than brightness, though.
Sibilance is not a big issue with the Synchors Reflect-I and while piercing highs might show up at times, they are not impossible to tolerate.
An EQ grants a great addition of detail and brightness with a, overall, much improved and open sound but also more frequently fatiguing.
Although the technical response of their entire range shows quite a good performance (see measurement curves below), their semi-earbud style and particular earbud-to-in-ear eartip adapter that not “transport” and translate the true potential of their drivers into the ears.

SL
Sound Leak
The sound leaking out of the JBL is somewhat lower and less hearable than on most average headphones.
For sports use, training sessions at the gym or, even, as a daily commute companion, the JBL Synchros will not present any inconveniences nor will disturb anybody being nearby.

C
Comfort
The JBL Synchros Reflect-I / Reflect-A has, certainly, an odd design with it’s unique “eartips” and protruding footprint but, fortunately, the final result is a very comfortable and stable fit that will cover it’s function as a sports earphone without too many issues.
In addition to this, the metal clip will allow to secure the cable and overall unit to your shirt/jacket and the special reflective cable and sweat proof capability add up to the peace of mind of any sports people.

EQ
Response to Equalization
The response to EQ of the JBL Synchros allowed it to achieve a much more powerful bass. Mids and highs also showed good potential of retuning and polishing of it’s baseline sound.
