JBMMJ MJ007

? The “bullet design” is very commonly used on earphones and referred when speaking about the form factor of their housing. Calling the JBMMJ MJ007 a bullet design is 100% accurate, they do not only have the shape of a bullet they are truly designed like a bullet, copying every detail of a bullet.
Calling the JBMMJ MJ007 bullet-like design is 100% accurate they do not only have the shape of a bullet they are truly designed like a bullet
The housing is made of metal but still light, the cable is rounded and pretty thick on the first section until the Y bifurcation, then it is much thinner, it is also rubbery to aid with tangle issues. The cable has a 1-button control with inline microphone and a L-shaped plug. The JBMMJ MJ007 is sold in different colors to mimic different types of bullets: golden, silver, iron gray and copper/coffee colored.

A
Accessories & Packaging
Usually earphones are packed in boxes some have good designs and other are just a plain cardboard box; JBMMJ has done an original packaging made of a metal tin nicely designed with a James Bond like theme. Inside there are 3 eartips, a cable clip and a carrying pouch.

B
Bass & Sub Bass
The JBMMJ MJ007 has punch on mid-bass frequencies but lacks sub-bass depth. A custom eq helps the MJ007 gain sub-bass depth but mid-bass will not change much and mids/vocals will get muffled. When equalizing for extreme bass and amplifying, the JBMMJ MJ007 could handle 47-48% of a Fiio’s E12 maximum power when set to high gain and bass boost on. With this configuration mid-bass becomes very punchy and sub-bass adds much more depth delivering a light basshead impact and rumble similar to the KZ ATE and below the Monoprice 8320, Xiaomi Mi Quantie Pro Hybrid and Vots QT100. To be able to generate any rumble and impact the JBMMJ MJ007 are very sensible to have a perfectly deep and tight fit or they will not have any kind of impact.

M
Mids & Vocals
Mids are recessed and laid back, mainly lower and middle mids. The mids and vocals of the JBMMJ MJ007 are not hash or fatiguing. A custom eq helps to improve much more the mids and vocals performance.

H
Highs & Treble
The MJ007 are present but not too defined, they are not too sibilant and are mediumly piercing but that bad. Equalizing high audio frequencies amends them without enhancing much of the piercing highs.

SL
Sound Leak
The level of sound that leaks from the JBMMJ MJ007 is very low and will not be heard by anyone nearby on normally noisy situations.
8.5/10
SI
Sound Isolation
The MJ007 are fairly capable of isolation from outside noises, they are not the best you can buy but they offer a performance slightly above the average. Noises will get noticeably reduced without needing to use very high volume levels.

C
Comfort
When you read that they are made of metal you may fear that the MJ007 could be heavy and fatiguing to wear, instead they are very light and the metal housing just adds to the construction quality feel without adding weight to them like it happens with the Elephone E1, Songful F2, Plextone X41M, UiiSii Hi-705, KZ ED9, KZ EDR2, KZ HDS3, Remax RM-565i or the Vots J1. They are very comfortable to use, the fit is tight enough to not fall easily from the ears.
8/10
EQ
Response to Equalization
The MJ007 have a good response to eq; custom equalizing mids and vocals reduces the recession and brings vocals more alive without making them boxy or harsh. Equalizing highs adds brightness and detail without emphasizing the already somewhat piercing highs but it does add sibilance. Bass responds better on sub-bass frequencies adding much more depth to them but mid-bass remains similar as when not equalized. On the other hand, overall the JBMMJ MJ007 becomes muffled when equalizing for bass.

Summary
A fairly balanced sound signature without any audio frequency being too boosted
Very good audio leaking performance makes them good for quieter situations
Mids can feel too laid back
- The JBMMJ MJ007 are very nicely designed as a real bullet, the metal housing makes them more robust than a plastic earphone. The sound quality may not be the best of all earphones but is fairly balanced and can respond well to a custom eq to tune it a bit. The MJ007 can be recommended for everyday users who want a specially designed earphone with a good enough sound quality.
