SIVGA Robin SV021
| 50 mm Dynamic Driver |
SIVGA Robin SV021, an honestly priced wooden headphone.
You might or might not have heard of SIVGA as a headphone brand but the company has been on the market for over a decade already, specializing in wooden headphones and earphones.
The SIVGA Robin SV021 is currently placed as the mid-tier, closed-back, full-sized headphone from the brand and is actually the most popular headphone in their complete catalog – even against their open-back models and in-ear headphones.
The Robin SV021 is equipped with CNC carved wooden earcups that hold inside a very large 50mm dynamic driver with an ultra-thin polycarbonate and fiber diaphragm, strong Neodymium FE-B magnets and protein leather earmuffs + headband.
With a low impedance of 32Ω, the SIVGA Robin SV021 becomes a good option for users that do not necessarily own a powerful headphone amp or who do not want to fiddle with a dedicated external DAC-AMP system.
The SIVGA Robin SV021 is available in two color and wood options:
- SIVGA Robin SV021 Rosewood (as the one we are reviewing)
- SIVGA Robin SV021 Zebrano
Unfortunately, the Amazon listings by the brand use a confusing model naming calling the headphone “SIVGA SV021” while omitting the “Robin” name.

A
Accessories & Packaging
The SIVGA Robin SV021 come inside a well-padded packaging but, subjectively, the design of it is not too fancy.
Inside, users will receive a soft carrying pouch, a 3.5mm to 6.35mm stereo adapter and a nice braided cable with metal details, matching color and design with the model bought.
7.5/10

B
Bass & Sub Bass
Bass coming out of the large 50mm driver of the SIVGA Robin translate into a notably fun experience with a nice bass kicking sound.
Mid-bass is able to add a very punchy response and a well-rounded sound on any song while sub-bass is respectably covered thanks to a good reach and extension.
With a good source and sub-bass centered tracks, users will even feel a subtle impact and vibration when very deep and intense sub-bass notes are present.
Despite the strong bass profile, the brand did an excellent job tuning the low-end of the Robin SV021 as their bass is far tighter and less bouncy than other similarly bassy headphones and does not sound like a bass-only headphone, allowing space and margin for mids and highs.

M
Mids & Vocals
The SIVGA Robin SV021 offers a rich midrange that provides a warm tone and a full bodied sound.
Said so, male vocals match perfectly with the tuning of the Robin SV021, adding a layer of coziness and extensively reaching vocals.
Despite this, “deep” vocalist do not sound overly muddy nor laid back at any given time while the lower midrange exhibits a very acceptable level of mid-bass bleeding.
In addition to this, the lower and mid ranges of the mids did not suffer from any significant congestion issues.
The upper end of the midrange is well-capable of providing a balancing performance offering good brightness and sufficient clarity without ever getting harsh nor annoying nor overshadowed by the general warmth of their mids.
On top of that, female vocals are able to complement any track, sounding alive yet never shouty.
8.75/10
H
Highs & Treble
Highs and treble on the SIVGA Robin provide a pleasantly balanced brightness that can add a decent amount of clarity to the sound experience without falling into fatiguing territory – with the exception of a slight presence of sibilance.
It is worth noting, though, that audiophiles should not expect pristinely defined nor analytical levels on the upper end but, instead, a highs and treble response that will allow a non-dark ruling sound with sufficient airy feel and a very enjoyable listening session for everyday use.
Overall, we consider that the general tuning of their highs will be welcomed by most users looking for a fun and good sounding headphone that is able to provide a proficient brightness/fatigue balance.

Sound Leak
The brand markets the Robin SV021 as a closed-back headphone, therefore we are evaluating this category as a closed headphone but to be more precise, the SIVGA Robin SV021 should be rated as least as a semi-open back headphone as each wooden cup sports 2 large cuts on the inner upper section that are acting as an open-back system.
Despite the “contrasting” definition of the back design of this headphone, the Robin is able to provide a leakage level slightly stronger than an average closed-back headphone and far less than a fully open-back.
6.75/10
SI
Sound Isolation
Having a palpable quality build, wooden earcups and full size, users might expect a nearly-absolute isolation from this SIVGA headphone; instead, the SV021 offers a substantial performance in this category but that does not challenges the highest scoring headphones in this category.
To be less subjective, the SIVGA SV021 will surpass the isolation provided by most average headphones, yet do not expect full isolation like an Active Noise Cancelling headphone.

C
Comfort
The SIVGA SV021 come equipped with a pair of delightfully cushiony and extremely comfortable earmuffs.

The muffs are also generously deep and offer a matching large diameter with the earcups.
In comparison, the headband padding is not as thick and soft as the earmuffs padding, yet this headphone is not as heavy as other similarly sized alternatives – despite having a metal headband.
To better adapt to each listener, this SIVGA headphone provides tilting earcups that reach 45 degrees but they do not rotate nor fold.
