The TRN V90 features an hybrid driver configuration with 4 balanced armature drivers + 1 dynamic driver per side. The specific drivers included inside each shell are a 10mm dynamic driver with Neodymium magnets, 2x 30019 balanced armature driver models and 2x 50060 BA models – to handle all the drivers, the V90 uses an electronic crossover.

The cable of the TRN V90 has 0.75mm 2-pin connectors and a oxygen-free copper braided cable with an Y-type design.

The cable comes with a single-button inline remote with a mic for phone calls; users can opt to get the TRN V90 with the inline remote/mic or without it.

The cable itself is fairly thin in comparison with quality cables or with bang for buck upgrade cables, yet the quality, build and style is very similar to the cables bundled with KZ earphones and RevoNext earphones or to the BLON BL-03.

Construction Quality and Build

The housings of the TRN V90 are made of aerospace grade aluminum while the back plates have an open-vent design that could also result in a semi-open back design, will evaluate this later on during the review.

Bass & Sub Bass

Sub-bass on the TRN V90 can get seriously deep with the full potential of covering any kind of genre, including EDM and electronic.

Mid-bass is, also, very energetic and fun, providing as much punch as requested at any given moment by bass-heavy tracks but can tend to become bouncy on tracks that require a “calmer bass”

Applying an EQ, their lower end can be pushed for an even deeper and punchier sound but can become a nearly bass-only sounding earphone if overdone.

If intentionally blocking the small vent placed on the inner section of the shells, their bass will become strongly boosted with a peak +/- 6dB increment .

Through out our extreme basshead tests, the TRN V90 handled up to 40% of the maximum power of our testing amp, exhibiting a massive increment of both punch and depth and reaching a respectable amount of rumble yet not reaching the level of the Top Basshead in our charts.

Mids & Vocals

The midrange on the TRN V90 will provide a full and, certainly, warm profile with rich male vocals and a relaxed feel on them.

Despite this and some presence of mid-bass bleed, their lower mids and deep vocals are not overly congested.

Overall, their mids will provide a cozy and warm sounding experience with sufficient crispness yet without excessive harshness.

With an EQ, the midrange of the TRN V90 showed an absolute makeover with a superb retuning potential by erasing every trace of mid-bass bleed and providing a remarkably clean vocals response – it is highly recommended to avoid touching the upper mids section or the TRN V90 will quickly become harsh.

Highs & Treble

Highs on the TRN V90 sit between what could be defined as either a brightish with a bit of a dark layer on top or a somewhat rolled-off but detailed tuning.

Piercing peaks and sibilance can arise from time to time but, in general, were fairly tolerable.

Their highs and treble exhibit a tuning style inline with their midrange; which provides a somewhat relaxed but not overly-recessed sound that can extend listening sessions without fatigue.

An EQ can add a strongly noticeable amount of detail and a much more open and bright sound, showing the true potential of their highs performance.

Sound Leak

The sound leaking out of the TRN V90 is more or less inline with most normal earphones.

Their sound will be heard by nearby people when listening to music at any volume above moderate – if used in places quieter than average. During daily commuting their leakage will remain within a non-problematic level.

Part of this higher leakage corresponds to a sort of semi-open back design given by the dual rear vents.

Sound Isolation

The tight and deep fit of the TRN V90 provides, as well, a good isolation performance that surpasses many average headphones.

Partial isolation will be felt right away while a near-absolute isolation can be reached with ease by cranking up the volume.

The TRN V90 has rounded edges, curvy forms and no uncomfortable ends.
